BSI, a Greek consulting company

My name is Paul Hampson and I represent BSI, a Greek company which is interested in joining the “CBRNE Crisis Management Federated Response & Training” project you presented at the FP7 SEC 2009 call info day. We are particularly interested in the implementation and extension of workflow and decision support modules for crisis management and the integration of advanced identity verification tools. BSI has several years of experience in preparing research proposals, managing international research consortia and participating in EC research projects (e.g. SPADE – decision support for airport capacity management, BioREs – decision support for investments in biogas produced from waste, ArcSite - wireless, personalised, location and context sensitive system on European archaeological sites, ECH:TOPICC – online content management system for European cultural heritage, etc). Our main areas of expertise include:

· Work-flow and decision support systems (DSS).

· H/W devices and custom s/w for Access Control (human identification, verification) into restricted areas.

· Intelligent agents, dynamic profiling and personalisation.

· S/W development for wireless (mobile) applications in a variety of business domains.

In the realm of security we believe we could provide significant value to proposals planning to integrate technology elements or expertise from any of the above 4 areas, and in particular elements such as:

* Access control for restricted areas, for WEB applications, for biometric ID cards, for supply-chain use-cases (e.g. through our biometric authentication device based on palm vein pattern matching techniques, and our in-house s/w suite), etc. Our technology is really secure as the palm vein pattern is unique and impossible to steal it (i.e. it is inside the body).

SEC CHEMSEC

Adapting to climate change via ICT-enabled response to emergencies
Title: Workshop 07B12 - Adapting to climate change via ICT-enabled response to emergencies

Chair: Barbas, Antonios
Maloney, Colette - Monteiro, Manuel

Organisers: European Commission, Information Society & Media Directorate-General (DG INFSO)
Themes: Theme B - Sustainable development: Regional responses to climate change
Speakers: Couturier, Martine - Gricar, Joze - Harmer, Dave - Reix, Claire-Anne - Simon, Patrice - Weets, Guy
Location: European Commission, Centre Borschette CCAB 1C
Date: 07/10/2008 [14:30-16:15]
Brief: Adapting to climate change in Europe, reinforcing the Union’s disaster response capacity, preventing natural and man-made disasters, and protecting citizens better against disaster risks by strengthening early warning systems, are now policy matters of high priority. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can dramatically improve the operations of emergency/civil protection agencies which have distinct legacy systems and depend largely on voice communication practices. There is also an increasing demand for reliable forecasting or prevention of riskprone conditions, launch of early warning systems and ICT-enabled preparedness strategies for timely interventions and cost-efficient resource management. Pilot
validations in urban and regional settings of emerging information exchange protocols and crisis communication technologies, permit interoperability in
operations between control rooms and field personnel as well as between the various agencies called for action after an incident.

SEC CHEMSEC

SECURITY Brokerage Events 8Oct08 Essen

Start: 2008-10-08 00:00

Brokerage Events 8-Oct-2008 Essen
With some 40,000 trade visitors from 79 countries and an exhibition area extended to over 75,000 m² SECURITY Essen, the world fair for security and fire prevention, recorded its best result so far in 2006 and clearly increased its lead as the world's No. 1 fair in this branch of industry. 1,027 exhibitors from 47 countries presented their products and services at the last edition of SECURITY Essen 2006.

At the coming SECURITY Essen in October 2008 the Enterprise Europe Network North Rhine-Westphalia organises a matchmaking event at the NRW joint stand (Hall 7) on 8 October. This Brokerage Event is strongly supported by the Sector Group Security and Defence within Enterprise Europe Network. Companies and researchers are welcome to join.
The matching will be organised prior to the fair on the basis of the participants´ co-operation profiles. These profiles are compiled in a catalogue from which the participants select the ones of interest to them. The Enterprise Europe Network will coordinate these requests and draw up individual meeting schedules. The participants will be brought together for bilateral meetings on 8 October.
Target groups are companies, universities and research institutes with an interest in technology co-operation in the area of safety and security.
